Gary E. Girard
1953-2025
West Springfield- Gary Edmund Girard, 71, of Wolcott Avenue passed away Wednesday at Baystate Medical Center. He was born in Springfield on December 28, 1953, to the late June (DeBlois) and Raymond Girard. He grew up in Springfield and graduated from Springfield Trade High School. He has lived in West Springfield the last 35 years. He worked in the printing department of Rexhall Manufacturing and after that he worked at Tubed Products, Inc. in Easthampton. Gary was an avid gardener; he enjoyed Rock and Roll music and played the guitar. He loved video games and taught all of his grandchildren how to play them. He will be remembered by his nickname “Pickles” for those who knew him in his youth. He was the loving husband of 35 years to Cecile A. (Willett) Girard, beloved father of Matthew Hawley, Kevin Girard, Melinda LaBroad and stepfather of Michelle Klein and her husband Brian and Christy Chaney and her husband Dave, caring brother of Cindy Wawrzonek and her husband Gary, Debbie McCarthy and her husband Steve, and Doreen Martin, devoted grandfather of Alan Ross, Jennifer Aviles and her spouse Aimee, Alexander Ross, Chelsea Gaudette, Addisen Gaudette, Andre Gaudette, and Emma Silleck and her spouse Connor, and cherished great grandfather of Emery, Marcel, Ethan, Lincoln, and Bennet. Gary also leaves several nieces and nephews. All funeral services are private, and he will be laid to rest at Hillcrest Park Cemetery in Springfield. Toomey-O’Brien Funeral Home has been entrusted with all arrangements. In lieu of flowers donations in Gary’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association, PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692.
