Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cypress Pointe Cremation - St. Louis on Feb. 3, 2026.
Gary Lynn Gorham, 84, was called home to be with the Lord on January 30, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 9, 1941, in Great Bend, Kansas, Gary proudly served his country for two years in the U.S. Air Force. He then went on to manage SaveMart in Woodriver, Illinois, where he met the love of his life, Ethelyn. They married on July 15, 1972, beginning a devoted 54-year journey together.

After relocating to Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Gary operated "Little Rascal Scooters", where he took pride in helping others maintain their independence. He later founded "Books Are Fun," delivering educational resources to local schools-a role that allowed him to make a lasting difference in the lives of teachers and children. A man of profound faith and a scholar in scripture, Gary's kindness and dedication to his family were a testament to his Christian values .

He is survived by his wife, Ethelyn Gorham; children, Amy (Sean) Breeze and Paula (Darryl) Huggins; five grandchildren, Daneille (Kurt) Hagen, Laura (Zach) Johnson, Alex Huggins, and Steven and Theresa Porter; two great-grandchildren, Scout and Lochlyn Hagen, and nieces, Joyce (Paul) Trebus and Kim (Carl) Loeffler; two great nieces, Ella and Eva Loeffler. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Margaret; children, David Porter, Captain Gary Porter, and Christi Porter; and brother, Nolan Gorham.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to his great-granddaughters' scholarship fund c/o Paula Huggins, CPA; 106 S. Farrar Drive, Suite 102, Cape Girardeau, MO 63701. The family extends their gratitude to the St. Francis Medical team for their compassionate care and family support.
