Gary Lee Grant

Gary Grant, 81, of Anamosa, died Monday, January 26, 2026, with his family at his side.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:30am on Friday, January 30, 2026, at the Goettsch Funeral Home in Anamosa. James Frazee will officiate. Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery, rural Anamosa. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 pm Thursday, January 29, 2026. Please use the Guestbook to share your thoughts, memories and condolences.

Gary Lee Grant was born on April 6, 1944, in Monticello, IA, the son of John L. and Hattie M. (Thuman) Grant. He graduated from Anamosa High School in the Class of 1962. He married Lorna J. Remington on September 1, 1963, at the First Baptist Church in Anamosa. The couple farmed together in Jones County until 2015, when they moved to Anamosa.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lorna, sons Gary L. (Selina) Grant, Jr., Center Junction, John L. (Leah) Grant, Center Junction, a grandson Austin Grant, his sister Sheryl (Elmer) Nissen, Center Junction, as well as by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Gary was a farmer all his life. He loved his farm dogs, enjoyed tinkering on old cars and tractors, and working with his dad and brother-in-law. He would take on anything that needed to be done on the farm.

The family wishes to thank UnityPoint St. Lukes Hospital in Cedar Rapids, and UnityPoint Hospice for the wonderful care he received.
