Gary Walter Gray was called home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 5, 2026. Gary was born July 22, 1957, to Ed and Agnes Gray in
Pensacola, Florida. Gary graduated from Escambia High School (1975) and earned a BS Civil Engineering degree from Auburn University (1979).
He was a devoted Christian, husband, and father, committed to loving his family. He married his high school sweetheart, and is survived by Terri Parliman Gray, three sons Gary (Priscilla), Andrew (Kelsey), and Josh (Erika). He will be remembered as a dedicated and adventurous Grandad by his ten grandchildren Toby, Piper, Owen, Isaac, Wesley, Ella, Brenner, Olivia, Jordan and Michael. He is also survived by his four siblings Donna, Leo, Jean and Angie.
Gary worked for Chevron Oil for 24 years, even taking his family and working overseas for 3.5 years in Indonesia. Feeling called to serve God by serving his neighbors, Gary left Chevron to lead a faith-based mission helping those suffering from homelessness, abuse, and addiction. Following in the footsteps of his father, Gary served faithfully for 19 years as CEO and Executive Director of the Rescue Mission Alliance of Ventura County, California.
Upon retirement, Gary returned to
Auburn, AL and spent time both in Auburn and
Pensacola, FL. Gary volunteered his time at several non-profits and enjoyed many sports which he actively pursued daily. He loved to bike, swim, run, and golf. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed cheering on the Auburn Tigers!
Gary spent time daily in God's word and faithfully lived what he believed. He was an amazing example to all and we remain inspired by his life and legacy of faith, love and generosity. We were all blessed to have Gary in our lives. We miss him and always will!
