Gary Henschel, 69, of Chambersburg, passed away Sunday, January 25, 2026 peacefully in his home. Born December 3, 1956 in Boston, MA he was the son of the late George H. and Doris (Ramsdell) Henschel.
He is survived by his wife and soulmate of over 46 years, Susan (Evans) Henschel; three sons, Jason Henschel of Chambersburg, Joshua Henschel (Heidi) of Greenvillage, and Justin Henschel(Kristi) of Fayetteville; five grandchildren, Drew, Jackson, Abbie, Ariana, and Alexa Henschel; one great-grandchild, Hardin Henschel; and three siblings, Carol Cook of Shalamar, FL, Kathy Bettencourt of Smithburg, MD, and Douglas Henschel of Newburg PA.
In addition to his parents, Gary is preceded in death by his siblings, Gerry Henschel, Joan (Henschel) Salisbury, George Henschel, and Eric Henschel.
Gary received his diploma from Chambersburg Area Senior High School in 1975. Throughout his career Gary was employed at Gibble’s for 23 years; Ingram’s for 10 years and then Letterkenny Army Depot. He was honored to serve 10 years with the depot before retiring in September 2023.
In Gary’s friendships he developed a real sense of “camaraderie” as he would call it, and loved watching sports with them on TV. “Go Patriots”. He enjoyed fishing, shooting guns, and more than anything Gary loved his family.
A Celebration of Life will be held 1:00 PM, Saturday, February 7, 2026 at Mountain Top Ministries, 200 Church Road, Orrtanna, PA 17353 with Pastor Ron Parr officiating, A time of fellowship with the family will follow.
