Gary Lynn Hester Rudd, 61, passed away on November 9, 2025, in Fayetteville, North Carolina, into the loving arms of his Heavenly Father. Born on January 17th, 1964, in Elizabethtown, North Carolina. Gary spent his life rooted in the communities of his home state, where he formed lasting bonds with family and friends.
Gary was a graduate of Pine Forest Senior High School and went on to attend Methodist College in Fayetteville. His professional journey led him to a long-standing career at Kelly Springfield/Goodyear, where he held various positions over the years. His dedication and work ethic were evident throughout his time there.
A man of faith, Gary was baptized as a teenager at First Baptist church on Anderson Street in Fayetteville, where he remained a member. His spiritual foundation was an important part of his life and values.
Gary had a deep love for his family and cherished the relationships that shaped his life. He is lovingly remembered by; his mother, Brenda Britt Hester Ray of Fayetteville; his brother, Anthony Rudd of Fayetteville; and his sister, Tina Tate and her husband Herbert of Harrisburg, North Carolina. He also held close bonds with Janis Kelly of Glasgo, UK – as special friend, and Sean Archer of Florida, a life-long friend whose companionship spanned decades.
He was preceded in death by his father Tamadge Leon Hester; stepfathers Jim Rudd and Kenneth Ray, (who was also a close friend); maternal grandparents Roger and Eunice Britt; and paternal grandparents Allison and Ethel Hester.
Gary found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid Duke Blue Devils fan who rarely missed a game. Music brought him happiness, especially singing karaoke with friends, and he shared a special affection for the family dogs, Precious and Lucky.
Those who knew Gary remember him as a loving son, brother, and friend. His warmth and presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him.
May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him. A funeral Service will be held on December 13th, 2025 at 12:00 PM at Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home 3131 MLK Drive. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 11:00 – 12:00. Burial will be immediately after the service at Britt Family Cemetery in Dublin, NC.
