Gary Lee "Skip" Hidy, of Washington Court House, passed peacefully at his home on January 27, 2025, at the age of 80.
Skip was born January 17, 1945, in Franklin County, Ohio to the late Russell Hidy and Annice Fay (Cushion) Tracey. He has a veteran of the US Navy serving during the Vietnam War. Skip was a well-known barber. He worked nearly 40 years cutting hair in the shop at Clinton Ave. and Draper Street. He was a long-time member of Elks Lodge 129. Skip had a great sense of humor and a huge heart. He loved cats and had plenty of food and attention for those in his neighborhood.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
He is survived by his loving wife, Vivian, whom he married on December 13, 1982; his children, Jomi (Scott) Lynch of WCH, Angela (Bret) Ferguson of WCH, and James Andrew (Michele) Thornton of FL; grandchildren, Carson Ferguson, Drew Ferguson, Robert (Meagan) Cox, and Ashton Cox (Ally Smith); and his many cherished friends.
A funeral is planned for Saturday, February 1, 2025, at the Roberts Funeral Home in Washington Court House with Pastor Robert Seymour officiating. An Elks service will start at 5pm with the funeral service immediately following. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 3 to 5pm. Burial with military honors will take place in the Washington Cemetery, at the convenience of the family.

I can remember Skip pushing me in a wooden Pepsi crate, down the little gravity rollers in the back room of what was then called Hidys grocery. You will be missed Skip. Sorry for your loss Vivian.

So sorry to hear of Skips passing. He has cut John's hair many times. Occasionally, I would go with him and the entertainment usually brought me many tears from laughter. Skip was a great guy and had a great heart!!!
