Gary Clifford Hill (80) of Melbourne, Florida, originally from Gansevoort, New York passed away peacefully on Wednesday September 17, 2025, at his home with family and his hospice nurse.
Gary was born on August 7, 1945, as sirens were going off to signal the end of WWII. Born at the Ticonderoga, NY hospital (the only one of four kids born in a hospital), to the late Edward and Gladys (Yarter) Hill.
When Gary was three, they moved from Crown Point to Hudson Falls. He played baseball and basketball at Hudson Falls and was awarded the Junior Varsity letter and Varsity letter in baseball. He also played baseball at Adirondack Community College and Plattsburg College. He received an AAS in Applied Science. He enlisted in the Army for Nike Missile repair training. He was stationed at Huntsville AL., then Edison, NJ before ending up in Germany as a supply clerk in the 308th Supply and Service Battalion. He spent three years in the Army.
He spent many years in Sales and Retail, from Woolworths, Cumberland Farms, Insurance, to Wine salesman. He met his wife Kathy while working for Cumberland Farms. They were married in September 19,1987. He retired in 2012 and moved to Florida with his wife Kathy and two cats, Smokey and Princess Annie, for a new adventure.
Gary loved the Atlanta Braves baseball, the Indianapolis Colts football, cruising on Royal Caribbean, animals and his family. He was Papa to the kids, the grandchildren, and a great grandchild. He was very proud of his children. He was a compassionate person.
In addition to his parents, Gary is predeceased by his brother Wally Hill and his sister Marguerite Olsenwick.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Kathy; his children, Michael (Che) Hill, Christine (Jeremy) Coody and David (Ashley) Printy. His grandchildren, Austin, Samantha, Andrew (Lexi), Allison, Carly, Devin, Luke and Hunter and one great grandchild Enzo. His brother Richard (Karen) Hill. His nieces Diane, Wendy, Cindy, Lynda and Suzanne. His nephews Tyler and Trevor. His brothers-in-law's Keith and Wayne and his feline babies, Princess Annie, Princess Luna and Princess Hermione, and many good friends and family.

On Monday, October 20, 2025, visitation will be held from 10:30 am to Noon at the Chase- Smith Funeral Home at 319 Park Ave, Mechanicville then proceeding to the Saratoga National Cemetery for a 1 pm military service.
