Gary E. Hines was born October 17, 1984 to Judith Shultz in Greenville, TX. He was raised in Chariton, Iowa by Judith and Allen Shultz. Gary worked as the head mechanic for the fork lifts at Hy-Vee. Gary loved to help people when he could so he became a firefighter for the Lucas Fire Department in Lucas, Iowa. Anyone that knew Gary knows how generous, kind-hearted, all around a great guy. If anyone needed help, he would be the first person to be there. He had a big heart for his community, family and friends. All his friends knew if you were his friend, you were his family. Gary was a jokester with a little bit of sarcasm. That was part of his warming personality that everyone loved.
Gary was a hard worker, he loved working on 4-wheelers, dirt bikes, lawn mowers, cars and mostly anything with wheels and a motor. He enjoyed riding them to make sure they were in his standard of working order. Also he loved to share his knowledge with his nephews or to those who wanted to learn about mechanics. To relax a little, Gary enjoyed to go fishing. He loved nature and being in the outdoors. Gary was loved by so many, he will be so greatly missed by everyone that knew him.
Gary is preceded in death by his grandfathers, Larry Hines and Arza Shultz, step-father, Dan Smith. He is survived by his mother, Judith Shultz of Altoona, father, Allen Shultz of Bondurant, sister, Chrystal (Don) Mundy of Lacona, brother, Danny Edwards of Norwalk, sister, Mary Shrader of Altoona, grandmothers, Ruth Hines of Pleasant Hill and Mary Shultz of Missouri, his significant other Stephanie (Avery and Lucy) Book of Chariton, nephews, Nathan and Hunter Mundy, Connor Edwards, Zack Shrader, other special family members, Noah Myers, Dace Dyer, Dane Dyer.
