Mr. Gary Anthony Hobbs, age 71 of Fancy Farm, KY and of San Antonio, TX passed away at 11:20 AM Sunday, October 20th, 2024 at the Baptist Health Hospital in Paducah, KY. He was a Vietnam War Era veteran of the United States Army, a member of the St. Jerome Catholic Church, and had retired as a glazier.
Gary was born on Sunday, August 2, 1953 in Fancy Farm, KY to the late James and Irene (Burgess) Hobbs. He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years- Martha Hobbs; his daughters- Jennifer Hobbs of San Antonio, TX, Julie (Cooper) Santos of Indianapolis, IN, and Jackie (Roy) Moya of San Antonio, TX; his grandchildren- Cheyenne Hobbs, Dakota Hobbs, and Callie Santos; one great-granddaughter; one brother- Robert Glenn Hobbs; sisters- Mary Ruth Dossett, Rose Elaine (Larry) Seay, Belinda Gail (Charles) Nanny, and Veronica Irene (Donnie) Wilson; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers- James Russell Hobbs, Francis Gerald Hobbs, and Thomas Wayne Hobbs; two sisters- Joy Ann Toon and Wanda Lou Painter; and a grandson- Anthony Ruben Santos.
While in the military, Gary met his loving wife, Martha Hobbs and they began their life in San Antonio, Texas. He cherished his family and friends and loved spending time with them all. He enjoyed late nights around a bonfire, singing, dancing, spending time with family and always had a smile on his face.
Funeral Mass for Gary will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, October 24, 2024 at the St. Jerome Catholic Church in Fancy Farm, KY with Father Darrell Venters officiating. Friends are invited to call for visitation after 5PM on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at the St. Jerome Catholic Church in Fancy Farm, KY where a Rosary Service will be held at 6:30 PM.
Burial with military rites will be held at a later date at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, TX.
The Brown Funeral Home in Mayfield, KY is in charge of the arrangements.
