Gary Lee Horst, age 74, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away at his home on Sunday, December 8, 2024. Born October 7, 1950, in Waynesboro, PA, he was the son of Savilla M. Musselman Horst and the late Nathan E. Horst.
Mr. Horst worked as a farmer most of his life, however he held jobs working at Martin’s Potato Rolls for over 15 years, and lastly at D.L. George Company, where he was a truck driver for the last 13 years. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, going to gun sales and auctions, drawings, and playing the fish bowl. Mr. Horst cherished time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Surviving are three children, Adam L. Horst (Kristy) of Chambersburg, PA, Kerry B. Barton (Todd, Sr.) of Fayetteville, PA, and Jennifer R. Horst of Chambersburg, PA; seven grandchildren, Kaci, Destin, Faith, Todd, Jr., Kobie, Cole, and Kenzie; two great-grandchildren, Leighton and LaReigh; and five siblings, William M. Horst, Darlene M. McCurdy, Donald N. Horst, Donna S. Meyers, and Charles R. Horst. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Kaden Bennett.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 13, 2024, at 1 PM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA, where Pastor Rick Egolf will officiate. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 12, 2024, from 6-8 PM and one hour prior to the service in the funeral home and address above. Interment will follow the service in Parklawns Memorial Gardens.
