Grant David Pensinger passed away on February 12, 2026, at the Dove House in Westminster, MD, three weeks shy of his 95th birthday. Born March 4, 1931, at home in Scotland, PA, he was the son of the late Elmer and Prudence Upperman Pensinger.
Grant attended the former Chambersburg High School and was married for over 57 years to the late Marlene (Deamer) Pensinger in 1951. He was employed at the Chambersburg Country Club as a Golf Pro and Greenskeeper. He later worked at Greenspring Valley Country Club before starting his own business, Pensinger Lawn Care Co.
He loved his family and could barely wait each year for the Pensinger Family Reunion to see all his family. He was a prolific reader, especially westerns and detective novels and yes, occasionally a romance. He possessed a kind and gentle nature, always ready to help and be with others. A member of Sons of American Revolution, his interest in our Revolutionary Soldier, Henry Pensinger, led to all the Pensinger women becoming Daughter’s of the American Revolution.
He is survived by three children, Gary Pensinger (Christina), K. Sue Williams (Robert), and Michael Pensinger (Carla); daughter-in-law, Darlene Pensinger; grandchildren, Jerusha, Keith, Melissa, Shane, Sarah, Tracy, Nikki, and Michael; 14 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Kay Moore; and numerous nieces and nephews that he truly loved. Aside from his parents and wife, Grant was preceded in death by his son, Phillip Pensinger; and granddaughter, Danielle.
Later in life he met Pauline Ford (predeceased). They enjoyed being together and taking yearly trips to Florida. Pauline’s son, Bob and his wife Maria essentially adopted him as their dad too and he continued to enjoy trips to Florida to spend time with them, setting the bar high for traveling alone on a plane at 92.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Rev. Dr. A. Robert Cook will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 – 2:30 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to The Dove House in Westminster, MD at lifebridgehealth.org/giving. Condolences and memories may be shared at geiselfuneralhome.com.
