Gary Hovermale Obituary
Gary Leon Hovermale, 80 years old, passed away on February 3, 2025, in Washington D.C. Born on July 4, 1944, he was the son of the late Foster R. Hovermale and Virginia (Lentz) Hovermale.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Chong Hovermale.
Gary was a proud Air Force veteran and retired from the United Postal Service after a long career. He was a man who could appreciate the little things in life. He enjoyed watching Chicago PD, as well as taking the occasional trip to the casino. He always had a bag of peanuts so he could feed the squirrels and “pet” groundhog in his yard; he loved watching them.
Gary is survived by his children, Richard Hovermale (Trisha), Ronnie Hovermale, and Irene Hovermale; five grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; Siblings, Allen Hovermale, Kenneth Hovermale, and Joyce Lynch.
A viewing will be held for the public on February 12, 2025 from 6-7:00 p.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Avenue, Hagerstown, MD 21742.
