Gary Hovermale Obituary
Mr. Gary Hovermale, age 68, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at Hospice Haven of Richmond County with his wife by his side. A Celebration of Life service will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 25, 2025 at Pine Grove Baptist Church by Pastor Mark Phillips. Following the service, Gary will be transported to the church cemetery in his black F-250 escorted by his family. The family will greet friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM Saturday, prior to the service at the church.
Mr. Hovermale was born December 30, 1956 in Manheim, Germany a son of the late Howard Wilson Hovermale and Rita Dover Hovermale. He was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church where he loved teaching Sunday school. Gary also enjoyed camping with friends in his RV and drinking his favorite soda, Cheerwine.
Gary is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sue Hovermale; son, Travis (Sheena) Hovermale; daughters, Anna (Greg) Cordell, and Michele (Dennis) Shaw; 5 grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter; sister, Laura Keenan; and brother, Scott (Chris) Hovermale.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pine Grove Baptist Church, 293 Zoar Road, Chesterfield, SC 29709; or to Sycamore Lodge RV Resort, 1059 Sycamore Ln, Jackson Springs, NC 27281.
