Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hedges-Scott-Millard Funeral Homes and Hedges Cemetery - Camdenton on Apr. 11, 2024.
Gary Hubert, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at his home in
Pittsburg, Missouri, on April 9, 2024, at the age of 66. Born on December 9, 1957, in
Logan, Utah, he leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
As a very young man working on the family farm in
Fillmore, Utah, Gary learned the value of hard work and perseverance. These early years instilled in him a work ethic that would define his entire life. Fresh out of high school, with the landscapes of Utah still in his rearview mirror, Gary returned to his home in Ventura County, California. Here, he began what would become an extraordinary entrepreneurial journey, starting his own trucking business. This venture was just the beginning of a lifetime of entrepreneurship and innovation.
Gary's drive and determination also led him to work for a large quarry, Tapo Rock, and sand in
Simi Valley, California. His time there was pivotal; it was here that he honed his skills in the industry, becoming a trusted and respected figure. His reputation for hard work and reliability opened the door to one of the most significant partnerships of his career, meeting Forrest Lucas. He helped facilitate the growth of Lucas Oil and Lucas Cattle Co, among many other entities. Gary's brilliance, his knack for seeing opportunities where others saw obstacles, played a pivotal role in the company's success.
In addition to his business acumen, Gary's adventurous spirit took him to Paris, France, where he competed in a World Cup race. It was there he became friends with a promoter, and this relationship brought him back to Paris to build the track. His passion for off-road racing and his expertise in track design led him to design and facilitate the builds of 10 off-road tracks across Mexico, California, Utah, Nevada, Arizona, and Missouri. These accomplishments not only highlight his diverse talents but also his influence on the world of off-road racing.
As a family man, Gary's aspirations were always guided by the well-being and future of his children. He believed in the importance of legacy and the empowerment that comes with building something of your own. It was this belief that led the family to establish Missouri Metal Buildings. This endeavor was not just a business; it was a testament to Gary's commitment to his family and his desire to see them thrive.
Gary's mind was a marvel, a beautiful and brilliant landscape of ideas and innovations. He was a fabricator and manufacturer at heart, his entire life dedicated to creating, building, and improving. His contributions have left an indelible mark on the industries he touched and the people he worked with.
As we reflect on Gary's life, we remember a man of extraordinary talent and kindness. His legacy is not just in the businesses he built or the innovations he brought to life, but in the love, he shared with his family, the wisdom he imparted to his friends, and the integrity with which he led his life.
Gary Hubert's story is one of ambition, resilience, profound love, and an indomitable spirit of adventure. He showed us what it means to dream boldly, work hard, and cherish those you hold dear. As we say goodbye, let us carry forward the lessons he taught us, the values he embodied, and the love he shared. Gary, you will be deeply missed, but your legacy will forever be a beacon of light for all of us.
Preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Janyne Hubert.
Gary's memory will live on through his wife, Jan; his children, Jennifer (and husband Brett), Holly, JD (and wife Clair), and Evan (and wife Audrey); his grandchildren, Cheyenne (fiancé Garrett), Codie, Jaren, Gage, Gunnar, Hollis, and Quinn; and his siblings, Jackie, Julene, and Danny.
Gary was a beacon of kindness and strength, remembered for his generosity, humor, and the profound impact he had on those around him.
Gary's legacy will continue in the love and memories shared by his family and friends. He will be deeply missed.
