Rev. Gary Lance Huffman, age 75, of Marion, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at the Asheville VA Medical Center.
Born on April 13, 1950, in Avery County, he was the son of the late Lance Huffman and Mildred Lewis Huffman.
Gary devoted more than forty years of his life to working as a commercial electrician. He also faithfully served the Lord as a Free Will Baptist minister for over twenty-five years. Music was one of his great passions, and he was the lead singer of the Huffman Family Group. A proud U.S. Army veteran, he honorably served his country during the Vietnam War. Gary was an avid UNC Tar Heels fan and deeply loved his family.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of fifty-six years, Norma Cable Huffman; two children, Gaylen Huffman (Jill) and Treshella Williams (Jeffrey); one sister, Sharon Watson (Harold); one brother, Dale Huffman (Mitzie); and two beloved grandchildren, Selena Huffman and Sabrina “Bri” Huffman.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 99 Mt. Olive Church Rd, Marion, 28752, with Revs. Terry Gardner and Billy Styles officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., one hour prior to the service, at the church. Interment with military honors will follow at Nix Creek Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.
