Gary, a native of Texas, was raised in Texas and Colorado. Gary was adventurous, intellectual, above all; always loyal to himself and his belief's. He served in the US Army, earning a National Defense Medal and a Marksman's Medal. After his stint in the service he worked in the plumbing industry, knowledgeable in domestic, commercial, remodel, new construction, and industrial plumbing he had a clear understanding of which way the water ran! A standing member of UA Local 62, Castroville, California, he was fully vested and had retired.
Gary was a son, brother, uncle, father, grandfather, husband, friend and plumber right down to his very core. He leaves behind him his wife, Debra 'Breezy' Hughes, daughters Mellisa Spencer, who is deceased, Betty Hughes-Krempasky, Betty's husband Todd Krempasky, Grandchildren Dylan Dosch, William Dosch, Fhoebiee Shaffer, Devon Gordon, Morgan Krempasky, Aluisius Krempasky, a great grand child Cody Trigg. His brothers Loren and Paul Hughes, Paul's wife Connie Hughes nieces Jenny Hughes, Crystalyn Hughes, nephews David Hughes and Kyle Hughes.
We will sorely miss this man being in our lives. His sense of humor, loyalty and integrity will not be easily be forgotten.

*Some of my earliest and sweetest memories involve my grandpa. He, was someone who was always so sure of who he was he was, and always will be an inspiration to me. Although he wasn't always a man with a lot to say if you put in the time and listened you'd find him to be one of the smartest and funniest people you'd ever meet. I will always love and miss him and carry his memory close to my heart Love Dylan

*There's always one thing that stood out about Dad and how he was with me.
Dad had a way of "secretly" challenging me and my abilities. He would lead on almost as though he couldn't really help; which in turn would only force me to research and figure out how to do it myself or just jump in with both feet and figure out as I go. A great example is when we were having issues with our water pressure regulator. He made it seem as though it was okay, but it was his way of challenging me because he knew I could do it. I went and bought what I needed, watched how to sweat copper and practiced it until I felt comfortable and got the job done. It was something I truly appreciated because it let me see that I was more capable than I felt I was. Dad obviously saw that too Todd

*Dads advise,
"If it's to loud your to old"
&
"Just don't play that album when your mother is home"
Thanks Dad, Love Betty

January 30, 2024

As a little kid and we went out to our little farm house in Hanford, CA, I always asked to sit with him on the tractor. These days were sunny and warm, usually in the start of the fall before it started to get cold. He started the tractor and we went to clear out our little field out of fallen branches.
