Gary Lawrence Jansen, 65 of Appleton passed away Wednesday, August 3rd after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the son of the late Martin and Vivian (Wilson) Jansen.
On August 28th 1982 he married Wendy (Johnson) Jansen. Gary loved hunting, camping, and going on casino trips with good friends Bob Nitz and Marty Jansen. He enjoyed drinks with friends at neighborhood bars, bartending at Rella and spending time with his two sons. Gary enjoyed spending time in the Iola area at sister Carol's residence where he loved campfires in the back and sleeping in the loft. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting with longtime friend Dick Welhouse who preceded Gary in death.
He is survived by wife of 40 years Wendy Jansen, sons: Kyle (Jen) Jansen; Craig Jansen (Hilary Miller), sisters: Marilyn Casperson Melum, Iola; Carol (Denis) Walter, Iola; Darlene (Walter) Mirek, Appleton; sister-in-law, Gloria Jansen, Appleton, along with many nieces and nephews. Gary was preceded in death by sisters Barbara Losse and Janice "Tootie" Sauer; brothers Larry Jansen and Ron (Sandy) Jansen; brothers-in-law Robert Sauer and Roger Melum.
Special thanks to Dr. Rigstad for his care, ThedaCare hospice team (Ben, you were a blessing!) and the team at Neuroscience.
A remembrance/celebration of his life will be held at Rella Bar (1151 Valley Road, Menasha) on August 13th 1pm-5pm.
