Gary M. Johnson, age 76, passed away on February 3, 2024. He was born on October 4, 1947, to the late Vivian J. (nee Baker) and Ralph J. Johnson.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 51 years, Dilma L. Johnson; his sons, Jeff Johnson, and Brian Johnson; siblings, Charlotte Hood, Tom Johnson, and Janet Johnson; and many nieces and nephews.
He wasn't one for fancy words or big gestures, but his life spoke volumes about love, family, and finding joy in the little things.
Gary's garden was one of his happy places, a patch of earth where he enjoyed spending his time. He wasn't growing prize-winning roses or exotic plants. No, Gary's pride was his day lilies, each bloom made his corner of the world a little brighter.
When he wasn't tending to his garden, Gary was out scouring for treasures. Arrowheads, marbles—you name it, he collected it.
He had a soft spot for old movies, the kind you can lose yourself in on a lazy Sunday afternoon. Westerns, war movies—he loved them all. And when the TV wasn't tuned to the silver screen, you could bet he had it locked on to the History Channel or CNN, soaking up knowledge like a sponge.
Back in his younger days, Gary was quite the fisherman. There was nothing he loved more than spending a quiet afternoon by the water, casting a line, and waiting for the fish to bite.
Above everything else, Gary's family meant the world to him. His wife and two sons were his pillars of strength, the driving force behind his every move.
To honor Gary, the family asks that you take a moment to appreciate the simple things in life, just as Gary did. Whether it's a blooming flower, a shiny marble, or a quiet moment with loved ones, cherish it, for that's what Gary would want you to do.
You'll always be our favorite gardener, collector, husband, father, and friend.
