Gary Lee Johnson

Gary Lee Johnson, 82, died March 3, 2026, at Hospice House in Hutchinson, KS. He was born July 15, 1943, in Coffeyville, KS, to Eldred Alexander and Clara Louise (Ambrose) Johnson.

Gary was a graduate of Coffeyville High School, where he also achieved a vocational certificate. In 1964, he made the choice to serve his country by joining the Army National Guard for 6 1/2 years. After his years in the military, Gary worked as a machinist for Master Machine Tools Inc. in Hutchinson, prior to its closure.

In his spare time, Gary enjoyed working on old vintage cars and attending car shows.

On August 15, 1964, he married Dana Jolene Johnson in Hutchinson. They shared over 61 years of marriage.

Gary is survived by: his loving wife, Dana Johnson of Hutchinson; son, Anthony (Hilary Arpin) Johnson of Wichita; daughter, Janet (Paul) Brock of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Sierra, Nicholas, Sydney, Zachary, Whitney, and Bailey; numerous great-grandchildren; and siblings, Larry (Beverly) Johnson and sister, Joann Garrison both of Coffeyville.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; sisters, Dolores and Beverly; and brothers, Robert "Bob" and Jimmy "Jim."

Per Gary's wishes, cremation has taken place and no services are planned. In care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
