Gary Curtis Knupp

Gary Curtis Knupp, Sr., 80, a resident of Harrisonburg, Virginia, passed away Sunday, January 4, 2026. Mr. Knupp was the son of the late John Henry and Ruby Mae Fitzwater Knupp. He was born in Harrisonburg on April 6, 1945.
He was preceded in death by his son, Gary Knupp, Jr. on May 6, 2022. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Jack Knupp, Charles Knupp, Carroll Knupp and a sister, Debbie Showalter.
Gary, often known as Curtis, was raised in Harrisonburg and attended Harrisonburg High School. He had a longstanding career as a meat cutter, beginning with Mick-or-Mack in downtown and retiring from Kroger. He attended Keezletown United Methodist Church. Gary was a big fan of the New York Yankees and the Indianapolis Colts.
Surviving are a sister, Barbara Green; a brother, Donnie Knupp and wife, Joan; brother-in-law, Tom Showalter; sisters-in-law, Mary Knupp, Alda Knupp; many nieces and nephews including close nephews, Carroll "Tim" Knupp, II, Leonard Shoemaker, II; his companion, Joy Dean, and beloved dog, Ben.
A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday, January 12, 2026, at Kyger Funeral Home, Harrisonburg with Pastor Joel Robinette officiating. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, Harrisonburg.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, January 11, 2026, at the funeral home.
