Gary Wayne Kofron

Gary Wayne Kofron, age 70, went peacefully to our Lord on the morning of June 23, 2024. He was born to Clarence E. Kofron and Patricia Cormier Kofron on August 20, 1953 in El Campo, TX.
He attended St. Philip Catholic School and graduated from El Campo High School in 1972. He valued hard work, selling newspapers as a first job at the age of 8. The night of his graduation, he left home to work on an oil rig with his father. Then, in 1973, joined the military as an Airman in the United States Air Force where he served one tour.
In 1976, Gary married his high school sweetheart, Denise (Lincke). The couple settled in Victoria, TX where they raised their two sons, Joshua (Gabe) and Conrad. A natural entrepreneur, Gary opened and operated city staples such as Gary's Car Wash, Video Gallery, Rentex Equipment Rental, and TEC Rental until starting his own Allstate Agency in 1993.
Gary loved his Catholic faith and was never more than a few feet from his Scapular and Rosary. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Victoria, TX. While he enjoyed shooting guns with his sons, collecting knives and antique tools, and listening to Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, and Roy Orbison, his favorite activity was playing with his three beautiful grandchildren. Gary also believed Jesus is in everyone we meet. He helped countless people over his lifetime providing food, clothing, money, and shelter to many in need. He would give out jackets in the winter, have lunch with terminal patients at hospitals, and give rides to hitchhikers. He was also known for his sharp wit, side-splitting sense of humor, and elaborate pranks.
He is survived by his wife, Denise Kofron; his sons, Gabe Kofron and Conrad Kofron (Hilary); his grandchildren, Helen, Fletcher, and Spencer; his mother, Patricia Cormier Kofron; his sister, Lisa Doughty (Scott) of Houston; his brothers, Clarence (Kathy) of Shiner, Terry Kofron (Norma) of Alice, Paul Kofron (Kim) of Round Rock, Patrick Kofron (Elysha) of Leander; his brothers-in-law, Mark Lincke of Inez and Jerry Dresner (Lori) of Sugar Land, and his fur babies, Simon and Sbarro.
He is preceded in death by his father, Clarence Kofron Sr.; father-in-law, Lloyd Lincke and mother-in-law, Evelyn Klimek Lincke.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 13 at St. Phillip Catholic Church in El Campo with a Rosary recited at 9:30 a.m. Funeral Mass will begin at 10 a.m. with a reception to follow.
