Gary R. Kurek

Gary passed away Monday, June 24, 2024 at McLaren Bay Region with his family by his side at the age of 77. He was born in Bay City, Michigan on November 17, 1946 to the late Joseph and Elaine (Averill) Kurek. Gary was retired from Gephart Funeral Home after working there for over 40 years. He enjoyed watching sports, listening to Elvis, Bob Segar, Lynyrd Skynyrd and classic rock, he enjoyed traveling, drawing, doing word search puzzles, loved to play pool when he was younger and most of all, he loved spending time with his friends and family.

Left behind to cherish his memories are his two siblings, Cheryl (Vaughn) Dietzel; and Terry Kurek and Vicki Sutherland; nieces and nephews, Justin Dietzel; and Stephanie (Chris) Burback; his great nieces and nephews, Kailey Maxwell; Ethan Garzon, Kobe Govitz, Keadon Dietzel, MaryKay Burback, Kaide Dietzel, Kirsi Dietzel and his funeral home family. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his uncle and aunt, Harold and Louise Weiss.

Funeral Service will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at Gephart Funeral Home. Officiating will be E.J. Brown with interment following at Floral Gardens Cemetery.
