Gary Lynn "Penny Boy" Lowery of Sparta, TN. passed away Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at his home surrounded by family. He was born in Ravenscroft, TN. on April 19, 1941 to the late Tom "Hawk" Lowery and Grace Cooley Lowery.

Penny was a lifelong resident of White County. He drove an over the road truck for many years and was employed by White County Lumber for 30 years. He worked his last years with Scott's Lumber in Sparta. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Penny was preceded in death by his brothers Edward, Jack, and Jay Lowery; his sisters Velma Pack and Maxine Measles.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Mary Ruth "Polly"; two sons Greg (Melanie) Lowery of Signal Mtn., TN., James Holt of Sparta, TN. ; two daughters Celeste Lowery Sessions of Signal Mtn., TN., Jeannie Holt (Tony) Strode of Sparta, TN., and family Jason, Samantha and Addison Strode of Sparta.

Seven grandchildren; Justin Sessions, Jeffrey Sessions, and Tabitha Sessions Robinson all of Signal Mtn., Shelby Holt (Aaron) Day of Sparta, Toni and Hailee Strode of Sparta, and Madison Lynn Lowery of Signal Mtn. Four great- grandchildren; Taylor Sessions of Grundy, TN., Nevaeh Van Dyken of Dunlap, TN., Paisley and Briggs Day of Sparta, TN.

Sister, Sue Holman of Sparta. Niece Beverly Justice, great-niece Jennifer and husband Barry Scott and sons of Sparta. Several nieces and nephews.

The family appreciates the support and love from our extended family and friends. There will be no visitation or services per Penny's request. Arrangements by Oaklawn Funeral Home Sparta, TN.
