Justin Craig Lowery, 30, of Effingham, SC, passed away on Wednesday, August 27, 2025.

Justin was born in Lumberton, North Carolina, on October 16, 1994, to Amanda Lowery Sullivan and Anthony Collins. He attended West Florence High School, graduating in 2013. Shortly after, Justin enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he served honorably for four years. During his time on active duty, he was stationed at Camp Lejeune as an Infantry Rifleman and also served in 29 Palms, Korea, Japan, and Spain. While in service, Justin earned multiple honors, including the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (2), Certificate of Appreciation, and the Expert Rifle Qualification Badge (2). He was honorably discharged in 2018 with the rank of Lance Corporal.

In 2019, Justin graduated from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy, earning his Basic Law Enforcement Certificate. Following graduation, he joined the Florence County Sheriff's Office, where he served first as a courtroom deputy and later as a patrol deputy. Justin was admired and respected by his colleagues, making his community a better place through his service and professionalism.

An avid outdoorsman, Justin loved hunting and fishing with his brother, Jeremy, as well as with family and friends on the river and lake while having a beer or two. He especially enjoyed spending the Fourth of July at Santee and traveling to Kentucky to hunt with his buddies. Justin loved catfishing on the Pee Dee River, often staying out all night setting and checking limb lines. He was extremely organized and neat; everything had its place, from his shop to his toolbox to his closet. He was a hard worker, and there was never a project he could not tackle. More than anything, he was a great friend and an even better son, brother, and father.

Justin is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Rev. Daulmon Lowery, Jr; and paternal grandparents, Roy and Stella Collins; Peggy Cusaac and Mildred Hughes; and Uncle Jerry Wayne Lowery.

He is survived by his sons, Justin James "JJ" Lowery (10) and Alexander Jase Lowery (6); parents, Amanda Lowery Sullivan (Lamont Williams) and Anthony Collins and stepdad Marty Sullivan; grandparents, Lorraine Cusaac and Geneva Lowery; brothers, Jeremy (Katie Coker) Lighthall, Dakota (Maygan) Collins, Zacchaeus Carter; sister, Chloe Collins; nephews, Raygen Collins, Jasper Carter, and Clay Carter; a special Aunt Lisa, and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who all loved him dearly.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Disabled American Veterans at 860 Dolwick Drive, Erlanger, KY 41018

The family would like to give a special thanks to all those who loved Justin without limits.
