Gary Hugh Lucas

Gary Hugh Lucas (73) of Falmouth, Ky, passed away on February 3, 2026. He was born in Cincinnati, OH on July 26, 1952, son of the late Joe (Mildred) Lucas and Dionne Spurr Latham. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers Richard Latham, Frank Lucas, and sister Lisa Parrot.

Firefighter Lucas was a dedicated member of the Falmouth Fire Department for many years and a proven public servant to our community and surrounding communities.

Gary began his career in the fire service in 1971 and served the people in countless capacities throughout his life, including Deputy Sheriff, EMT, Firefighter, Safety Officer, Fire Chief, and just about every other position within the fire service.

Gary leaves behind a legacy that cannot be measured. Lovingly nicknamed "Grandpa," and "Papaw" he took generations of firefighters under his wing, treating each of us as family. His knowledge, leadership, and compassion shaped this department and the people within it.

Gary was deeply loved by our department and will be truly missed. His service, dedication, and impact will never be forgotten.

Survivors include his wife Dolores Lucas, son Chris (Melissa) Lucas, John (Stephanie) Lucas, daughter Jaci (Bob) Lucas Price, brother Joseph Lucas, sisters Deborah Heringer, and Susan Lucas, 7 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM, Friday, February 6, 2026, at Peoples Funeral Home in Butler. Funeral Service will take place immediately after at 1:00 PM also at the funeral home. Gary's final resting place will be in the Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made out to Peoples Funeral Home to offset funeral cost.
