Gary L. Malone, 72, of Mason City, passed away Sunday, September 28, 2025, at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center. Services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the family of Gary Malone.
Gary Lee Malone was born on March 3, 1954, in Mason City, to Roy and Gladys (Lawhorn) Malone. Gary graduated from Mason City High School in 1972. Shortly after graduation, Gary enlisted in the United States Army, and he served for two years.
After serving, Gary worked at several jobs over his career, most notably, Floyd and Leonard, IMI, and Winnebago Industries. He also worked at home doing lawn mower repair and worked as a small engine mechanic. Gary retired in 2015.
In his free time, Gary loved to race cars, work on small engines and watch westerns, and he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, he will be deeply missed.
Gary is survived by his daughter, Kelly Malone; grandchildren, Blaze and Ava Malone; brother, Randy Malone; life partner of 19 years, Lois Gordon; three stepsons, Michael (Miranda) Gordon, Rick (Dominque Bohl) Lee, and Carl Gordon; and several nieces and nephews.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, and four sisters, Shelba, Phyllis, Val, and Cindy.
