Gary L. McCormick, 86, of Platteville, Colorado, passed away on July 25, 2025, at his home in Westminster, Colorado.

Gary was born on November 28, 1938, near Madrid, Nebraska, to Carl Luther and May Lucille (Carothers) McCormick. He was one of ten siblings and grew up in Nebraska. At 13, he moved in with his sister, Mona, and her husband, Bill Cooper, to work on the farm while going to school. In high school, Gary was very involved in sports. He especially excelled in football. After high school, Gary briefly attended the University of Nebraska but found that it was not for him. He then moved to Colorado, where he briefly lived with his brother Jack. Later, he moved in with his sister Bev while working and finishing his schooling for Accounting at Barnes Business School.

Gary met and married Delores Palombo, and their union was blessed with one son, Todd. Gary was drafted into the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas. He received an early discharge from the Army due to health reasons. The couple returned to Colorado, where they purchased property in Commerce City, Colorado, where Gary enjoyed raising a few different breeds of cattle. He established himself professionally as a public accountant in Westminster, Colorado, for over 63 years. The couple's union would come to an end in 1969.

In 1979, Gary met Tammy Boles, and the two would share a life together that spanned over 46 years. They made their home in Westminster, where they remained for decades. In 2005, Gary and Tammy became partners in the accounting firm which would becomes Boles and McCormick Accountants in Westminster and served the community for many years. Though accounting was his trade, his heart remained on the farm. He deeply loved working with animals, tending cattle, and spending time outdoors.

Over the years, Gary also owned and operated several restaurants, including a Dairy Queen, Mazzola's Pizzeria, Mander's Pizzeria in Westminster, and later, Luigino's Pizzeria and Tarantino's Italian restaurant. He enjoyed teaching his son the ropes of the restaurant business. Gary purchased the Platteville property in 1990 and proudly maintained cattle operations in Platteville after selling the Commerce City property.

Gary had a love for numbers, animals, working with his hands, and building things. He enjoyed watching football, fishing, playing cards, watching old Westerns, being on the property in Platteville, and especially treasured time spent with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and May McCormick; his sisters, Mona Cooper and Beverly Hamre; and a brother, Jack McCormick.

Survivors include Tammy Boles of Westminster, CO; Todd McCormick of Platteville, CO; Cherish M. Arellano of Aurora, CO; Scott (Ella) McCormick of MO, Colton J. Arellano and Phoenyx Richard, both of Aurora, and Amanda (Scott) Doolittle of Gunnison, CO; Nathan (Zoe) and their children (Gary's great-grandchildren), Benny and Jade, and lastly, Chance (Katri) McCormick, all of La Salle, CO; siblings, Bob McCormick (Shirley) of Ogallala, NE, and Roger McCormick of McCook, NE, Shirley Briggs (Ron) and Dene Hogue, both of Centennial, CO, Kharon Benge (Jerry) of Grant, NE, and Sharon Burge (Dale) of Madrid, NE; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
