Gary Martin McVay

Gary Martin McVay passed away peacefully, after a long battle with cancer, on January 14, 2025 at home in Jackson County, Michigan. He was a former employee for Ford Motor Company in Wayne County, a Detroit police officer, and he worked many departments in the Jackson County prisons. He was a member of the Eagles Club, the Elks Lodge, the Moose Lodge, and the Rose City Post. He enjoyed hosting and performing a local firework show on the 4 th of July for the community at his farm home in Michigan Center.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Elma and Theodore McVay; his former spouse, Addie McVay; and two of his sons, Scott McVay and Mark McVay.
He leaves behind his wife of 30 years, Nancy McVay; his four children, Louise (George) Walz, Tracy Jimenez, Matthew (Brenda) McVay, Heather Stepke; his stepson, Robert (Jennifer) Anderson; twelve grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and his brother, Ted.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Henry Ford Jackson Hospital, Henry Ford Allegiance Home Care, Lauer Family Funeral Homes, and especially his daughter, Heather, and his son, Matthew, who supported his decisions, remained by his side as his caretakers, and made everything as easy as possible for him and his wife.
Gary was loved and will be missed by many. A memorial service will be held at the Eagles #612 on Sunday, June 1, 2025 at 2:00pm.
