Catherine Marie Smiley

Catherine "Cathy" Marie Smiley, age 81, was called home to be with the Lord on February 1, 2026.

She was born in Sault Ste. Marie in 1944 to Cecil and Eleanore Gilroy and grew up in Williamston, Michigan. After graduating from high school, she married and moved to Holt, where she raised her family and made lifelong friends. Cathy enjoyed being self-employed and working with people. She started Cathy's Catering, helping others plan special events. Later in life, she became a realtor, finding great joy in working with first-time homebuyers.

Being with family and friends was very important to her. Her home was always open and busy, and she loved spending time with others, especially meeting up with her high school classmates.

Cathy was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Smiley; her son, Charles "JR" Smiley; her parents, Cecil and Eleanore Gilroy; her brother, Nelson Gilroy; and her brother-in-law, Alan Ordiway.

She is survived by her children, Terrie (John) Rowley, Toni Foster, and Skip (Tina) Smiley; her daughter-in-law, Jodi Smiley; her brother, Roger Gilroy; her sister, Sharon Ordiway; nine loving grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Buddies Grill, 2040 Aurelius Rd., Holt, Michigan 48842.
