Robert Van Camp Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lauer Family Funeral Home Affordable Cremation Solutions Jackson - Jackson on Feb. 11, 2026.
Robert Wayne Van Camp, age 68, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2026, under the compassionate care of the Henry Ford Hospice Home in Jackson, Michigan.

Robert was born on November 23, 1957, in Addison, Michigan, to his parents, the late Reo and Cleona Van Camp. He grew up on a farm and carried a lifelong passion for working the land whenever he was able. A very mechanically inclined man, Robert spent many years employed at Hillsdale Tool as well as other manufacturing facilities throughout the Hillsdale area. He was especially talented with woodworking and could often be found in his workshop creating and fixing just about anything.

Robert enjoyed watching NASCAR and spending time outdoors. His pole barn, affectionately known as the gathering place where everyone was welcome and, as friends liked to say, everyone knew your name. He dearly loved his canine companions and was never without a dog waiting for him at home. He could occasionally be stubborn and opinionated at times, yet he was very generous with everyone he knew and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone who needed help.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Brenda Bollen; and his brother, Dennis Van Camp.

Robert is survived by his brother, Rick (Karen) Van Camp; his brother-in-law, Charles (Carol) Bollen; nieces and nephews, Kevin (Debbie), Kris (Chuck), Kelli (Tyler), and Mark (Kitty); as well as numerous other loving family members and friends who will greatly miss him. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held to honor him at a later date still to be determined.
