Gary Kendle Monks passed from this life on October 19, 2025, just days before his 75th birthday. Born on October 29, 1950, Gary lived a life rooted in simple joys, faithful service, and a lighthearted spirit that never took life too seriously.
A proud veteran, Gary answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Army. He served with honor and bravery, earning a Purple Heart for his sacrifice. Despite the hardships of military life, Gary never lost his sense of humor. He became known among his fellow soldiers for his quick wit and playful spirit, always ready with a joke to lift the mood.
That same humor followed him throughout his life. Gary loved teasing those he cared about, both family and friends alike, and had a special gift for turning everyday moments into something worth smiling about. Whether he was spending time at the casino, enjoying a concert, or simply sharing a drink and a smoke, Gary knew how to enjoy life and make others feel at ease in his presence.
He was a man who didn't need much to be happy, just good company, good music, and a good laugh. His laid-back nature, warm personality, and mischievous grin will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
Gary is survived by his daughter, Michelle Owen, and her husband Darin; his brother, Dale Monks, and his wife Ann; his nephew Jim Monks and his wife Teresa; his niece Stephanie Hilbern; and his great-nephew Nicholas Monks.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his nephew Jeff Salley.
Gary leaves behind memories filled with laughter, loyalty, and love--a legacy carried on by those who were lucky enough to know him.
