Gary Moore Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Riposta Funeral Home - Belfast on Jan. 7, 2026.
Gary Ford Moore went to be with his Lord on January 6, 2026 in Searsport, Maine with his partner, Caroline Connor by his side.

He was born in St. Johnsbury, Vermont on May 22, 1945, the son of Donald and Thelma Moore (Davis). He grew up and attended church and school in St. Johnsbury. Once he graduated he attended New Brunswick Bible Institute 1965-1967. He made many good friends there who are still friends to this day.

He met and married Gayle on October 21, 1967. They had two sons, Paul and Allen. After living and working in New Hampshire for a time the family moved to Olamon, Maine.

Gary worked in the lumber business for a few years then ventured out to start his own financial investment insurance business. He did very well for 25 years, retiring in 2007. He drove for Waldo Cap and was on the Board of Directors for a few years then decided to help people who were mentally challenged as a DSP. He truly enjoyed working with these folks and was well liked. In 2021 he started another business, GF Moore Puzzle Boxes. Attendees of craft shows and fairs loved these wooden boxes.

Gary loved to travel and experience new things. He loved people and always enjoyed socializing, telling stories and jokes. He was a member of many different organizations over the years including coin and stamp clubs. He was a past president of the Lions Club in Searsport and worked at the voting polls in Searsport. The 20th Maine Co. B was on of his favorite organizations that he joined in 2007 portraying a soldier during the civil war.

Gary is survived by his partner, Caroline Connor of Searsport, his son Allen, wife Vicki and grandson Nathan from Oklahoma, son Paul and grandson Nolan of Bar Harbor, brother Byron Moore and sister Bonnie Ailes of St. Johnsbury, Vermont, neice and nephew, Brandi and Robert Ailes, and former spouse Gayle. Many friends and extended family will miss him.

A memorial service is scheduled for Gary on Saturday, January 24, 2026 beginning 1:00pm at the Stockton Springs Community Church, followed by internment in the Spring of 2026 in St. Johnsbury Vermont.
