Gary Franklin Murphy

Gary Franklin Murphy, age 84, passed away peacefully and surrounded by his family on January 5, 2026.

Gary was the beloved husband of the late Linda Murphy, with whom he shared 63 wonderful years of marriage. He was the devoted son of the late William and Betty Murphy, and a loving father to Colleen (Anthony) Russo and Thomas Murphy. He took great pride in being a grandfather to Madison (Alex) Demees, Morgan (fiancé Alek Jarmolinski), and Nicholas.

Gary was a cherished brother-in-law to Judy and the late David Bieber, and to Ruthann and the late Bill Flint. He was also a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews who will fondly remember his kindness and steady presence.

In his younger years, Gary enjoyed playing baseball, a passion that stayed with him throughout his life. In more recent years, he could often be found cheering on Detroit sports teams, especially enjoying Detroit Tigers baseball games.

A longtime resident of Warren, Gary and Linda were integral members of their community. Gary was a dedicated and longtime member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Madison Heights, Michigan, where he formed many lasting friendships.

Private services have been held for Gary. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
