Gary Allan Nance, 64, of Glendo, Wyoming passed away at the Shepherd of the Valley Rehabilitation and Wellness in Casper, Wyoming on Thursday, November 6, 2025.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 15, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at the Glendo Community Church in Glendo, Wyoming with The Reverend Canon Bobbe Fitzhugh officiating.
He was born Tuesday, January 17, 1961, in Douglas, Wyoming, the son of Fred Loyd Nance and Kathleen Ann (Fitzhugh) Nance. He was reared and educated in Douglas and Glendo, graduating from Glendo High School in 1979, and was a 4-H and FFA member. Gary attended Casper Welding Trade School.
In 1967 the family moved to Glendo to work for Gordon Fitzhugh on the Stemler Place, then moved up to the Chamber Place on Horseshoe Creek and after that they moved down Horseshoe Creek to what they called Peterson Ranch, known as Mac Nichol Ranch.
Gary was a skilled machinist and welder; there wasn't anything that he couldn't make or fix. Many of his friends were in envy of his skills, which was passed down from his dad. He was a cowboy and enjoyed team roping. Gary helped build the Glendo Youth Rodeo arena and he enjoyed helping his dad, Fred, on the ranch on Horseshoe Creek. Gary was a practical joker and a survivor of hard knocks.
Gary enjoyed helping his dad Fred with the famous oxen teams that were paraded around at Cheyenne Frontier Days, Wyoming State Fair, and Gary and Fred took great pride in participating in the Lusk Rawhide Pageant. When Gary had time, he liked to scuba dive at Glendo Lake. Gary loved to find old antiques as he was riding horseback. He loved to play horseshoes after branding and was always game for hooking up the snow cat and going sledding on the big hill. Gary enjoyed playing a mean hand of cribbage to see who had to go check the cow or heifer to see if she had calved. Gary always enjoyed helping his friends at branding time, shipping time or any other time.
Gary is survived by his sister Janeen Morvee and brother-in-law Bill Morvee of Douglas, Aunts and Uncles, cousins and an arena full, of wonderful friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother Kathy Nance, May 28, 1997; father Fred Nance, February 28, 2018; by his grandparents; and aunts and uncles.
Cremation has taken place. Ashes will be scattered at a later date.
The Gorman Funeral Homes-Converse Chapel of Douglas, Wyoming assisted with the arrangements.
