Gary Obenauer Obituary

Gary Obenauer, 87, died peacefully at home on September 29, of an apparent heart attack. Gary was a U. S. Army veteran, having served in Germany from 1958-1960; a West Tech ('56) and Bowling Green ('63) graduate, and a dedicated 30 year Lubrizol Corp. employee.
He was the beloved husband of 62 years to (originally a college blind date) Bonnie; a fantastic father to Shelley Bondra, Todd Obenauer (Martha), and Matt Obenauer (Carolyn); and a cherished grandfather to Navy Petty Officer 3rd class Travis Bondra, Cheyenne Bondra, Grayson Obenauer, and Piper Obenauer. His parents were Pete and Edna Obenauer.
Among his many talents were being an inappropriate joke teller, a grape fermenter, a martini enthusiast, a golf putterer, and a Michigan sunset connoisseur. For over 55 summers, yearly family vacations to Michigan (Traverse City area) were always a highly anticipated tradition for all the family. He was also actively engaged with his church and his community, and was known as a friendly neighborhood ambassador, especially when walking his faithful dog, Tucker.
All are welcome to join a memorial service at Richfield United Church of Christ, 4340 Streetsboro Road, Richfield, Ohio, 44286, on Saturday, December 13, at 2:00p.m.

Bonnie, we are so sorry to hear this. Gary was a great guy. He would always stop to chat while walking the dog or when i would jog by.
