Gary Patton, son of Alda and Elbert Lee Patton was born in Elk City, OK on July 20, 1936, on the hottest recorded date in Oklahoma at the time (120 degrees).
Growing up in Jackson County and surrounding areas of southwest Oklahoma, Gary graduated from Dill City High School.
In 1956, while attending Central State College, he was introduced to the Freshman Queen, who stole his heart. He and Frances Ann Hunsaker married in 1957 and built a beautiful life together which lasted nearly 67 years.
Gary spent his professional years in various sales positions including Otasco, Oklahoma Brick, Oklahoma Electric, and Selected Distributing. His retirement years were full of family, golf, grilling, and volunteering at Mercy Hospital, Britvil Pantry and Chapel Hill UMC.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, his brother Elbert Lee and his grandson Austin Brook. Gary is survived by his precious wife, Fran, daughters DeLyn Mattingly and Nancy (Chris) Convertito, granddaughters Elizabeth (Aaron) Goedde, Molly (Alex) Breitenbach and Caroline (Jake) Marshall, great grandchildren Grace, Reid, Fiona, Romy, Rhett, Mason and Ellie, brother Ronnie (Nancy) Patton, brother-in-law Hal (Susie) Hunsaker, and many precious nieces and nephews, and very dear friends.
Gary will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Services will be held Thursday, May 23, 2024, 10:30 am at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, 2717 West Hefner Rd. OKC, followed by a private graveside service. Memorial contributions can be made to Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, or any charity of your choice.
