Gary Pietrus (Pietruszewski) left us suddenly and unexpectedly on February 3rd, 2023, in Arvada, Colorado. Born in St. Paul, Minnesota on April 26, 1955, where he lived with his parents, Len and Muriel, and his older sister, Lynne, and his younger brother, Mark, as well as his beloved uncle Corny and aunt Joan. Gary and his family moved to Colorado in 1987, pursuing easier access to the skiing, hiking, camping, and majestic vistas of the Rocky Mountains. Gary and several friends had previously made several trips to Colorado and other western destinations for skiing and backpacking during his college years, and he felt a strong pull to be near them permanently. He was very proud of his three children–Lee, Julia, and Anya–and felt a great satisfaction in the opportunities his hard work and friendly demeanor brought them through his efforts at MacArthur Co. in Aurora, Hercules Industries in Colorado Springs, and Kuck Mechanical in Loveland. He was loved fiercely and deeply by his friends, his children and their spouses Michelle and Dean, and by his grandson Carson Dean McVay, with whom he spent many Sundays and holidays. He will be greatly missed as a smiling presence, quick with a joke, and as someone ready to help.
Services will be held on Friday, July 28, 2023 at Horan & McConaty on 80th and Wadsworth. Casual dress encouraged, because he was a pretty casual guy.
Please share your memories of Gary with his family by signing the tribute wall.
