Gary "Snow Bird" Ponthier

A Memorial and Prayer Service for Gary A. Ponthier will be held on Saturday, November 12th, 2022 at 11:00am at the Escude Funeral Home of Mansura. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, November 11th, 2022 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Escude Funeral Home of Mansura and will resume Saturday morning at 9:00am.Gary A. "Snow Bird" Ponthier, age 68, passed away October 25, 2022 following a massive heart attack, as he went quickly, with no pain nor suffering.Gary was born on March 3rd, 1954 in Marksville, LA and was a graduate of Mansura High School. Gary worked as a Farmer in Mansura, La for many years with his father then he fell in love with Jill, and married her and became the extended father of her two sons, Don and John. Until his last day on Earth, he spoke of how much he still loved them.Gary worked in many other professional trades after farming and was able to travel to many other places as he learned many other cultures and ways of living.Gary is preceded in death by his parents, Sammy and Helen Ponthier, his two brothers, Eugene Ponthier, Thomas Ponthieux, his nephew, Todd Dauzat, and his grandson, Joseph Leonard DeLill.Gary is survived by his sister, Lola Ponthier Dauzat (Larry), his ex-wife and dear friend for many years, Jill Fuller, his two stepsons, Don and John DeLill, and his several grandchildren. Gary also loved his nephews and niece as if they were his own children, Van DeMars, Jeff DeMars, Trisha Ponthieux Henry, Michael Ponthier, and Brian Ponthieux.The family also wishes to extend their sincere appreciation for the following for caring and loving Gary during his final days here on earth: Dale St. Romain, Allen Guillot, Monica Foster, Hessmer Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, and Synergy Care's Therapy Team.Gary was the most kind and loving person that all had ultimate respect for, and he is now rewarded to live eternity with God in his Heavenly Kingdom.
