Gary Wayne Pounders, age 71, passed away at his Thornton, Colorado home on January 9, 2026. Gary was born in Fort Morgan, Colorado on March 13, 1954, to parents Bob and Jean Pounders. He graduated from Ranum High School and attended the University of Colorado.
Gary worked for King Soopers for over 40 years, where he met his devoted wife of 43 years, Cindy Pounders. Together they proudly raised their two children, Aaron and Stephanie. Gary earned many titles along the way such as “Soccer Dad Extraordinaire.”
Gary was never too busy to help a friend or stranger. He was a man of few words but great actions. His love for animals and nature was surpassed only by his love for his family. Gary stayed busy with his endless home projects but always found time for gardening and golf. He instilled a strong work ethic, a respect for nature, and a love of the outdoors.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy Pounders; mother, Emogene Pounders; son, Aaron (Jamie) Pounders; daughter, Stephanie (Paul) Daly; grandchildren, Hailey, Garrett, Michael, and Matthew Pounders; brother, Donnie (Jamie) Pounders; and sisters, Cathy (Tom) Borowski and Peggy Erskin. He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Pounders; and brother, Ed Pounders.
