Gary Ellis Reed

September 13, 1947 – December 5, 2025

Gary Ellis Reed was born McAlester, Oklahoma to James Darrel (J.D.) Reed and Aldura Reed on September 13th, 1947. He had one brother, Ron Reed.

Due to his father's military service, he and his brother spent their childhood in multiple places including Texas, Guam, and settling in Washington State.

In 1970 he attended Washington State University. While there he played baseball and football and earned a Master's Degree in Police Science and Administration.

In 1971 he joined the US Marines where he became a radio operator and served two years.

When he returned to Washington he became a Health Investigator for the State of Washington, investigating malpractice, etc. He was the Chief Health Investigator when he retired.

During this time, he was married to Kathleen Guinn and had two children, Jared and Brittany Reed. He was later remarried to Carolyn Reed in 1991.

Some of his favorite hobbies were going dancing and bowling with his wife Carolyn. He was also an avid gardener.

He was preceded in death by his wife Carolyn in June of 2021.

Shortly thereafter he moved to Oregon to be closer to family, namely his son Jared, in November 2021.

The things he enjoyed most after moving to Oregon were attending church and spending time with his family.

After a long battle with Advanced Kidney Disease, he passed away on the evening December 5th 2025.
