Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sanders Funeral Home - Lubbock on Feb. 10, 2026.
Robert (Bob) Henry Ferranti, (76), a retired businessman (HCD Seafood), coal miner, outdoorsman, athlete, loving husband, and father was called home to his Lord Wednesday, February 4, 2026. He was born August 10, 1949 in
Modesto, CA to Julio and Betty Ferranti. He married his wife of 53 years, Sheryl E. Troupe Ferranti, on August 21, 1973. He completed the joy in his life upon the births of his three children, two grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. He has lived in
Raton, NM,
Angel fire, NM,
Albuquerque, NM, Tijeres, NM,
Hotchkiss, CO,
Houston, TX, and
Lubbock, TX.
Bob graduated from Raton High School in 1967. He went on to college at Washington State University in Pullman, Washington. While attending college, he took a semester off and was drafted into the U.S. Army. He served in the U.S. Army from 1970-1976 as a Special Forces Green Beret Airborne Medic in Vietnam. To us he was/is an American Hero. Then after, he operated his own retail shop. He went on to work as a Safety Inspector and Trainer at the Kaiser Steel coal mine where his safety teams won national titles. Eventually he and Sheryl created and operated a wholesale seafood business, HCD Seafood, for 25 years.
Bob was quite an outdoorsman and athlete. He played basketball, baseball, and football, water and snow skied. He loved to hunt and fish. He guided elk hunts at Vermejo Park at times. He shared his love for sports and the outdoors with his family from trips to Mazatlan, to hunting and fishing expeditions, and to sitting on the sidelines rooting for them in their sports of choice. As a boy he served as an acolyte at the Episcopal Church in
Raton, NM. He held onto his belief and faith in God all his life.
Above all, there is not one thing he would not do or try to do to help someone he loved. He was filled with love. We will admit, he had a temper, but usually coming out of frustration for an inability to "fix" a problem for his loved ones. He had a brilliant mind, a golden heart, and deeply loved. His sly grin, ornery disposition, and abiding love for all of us will live in the faces and lives of his children.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 53 years, Sheryl Ferranti; sons, Christopher and Linda Ferranti of
Houston, TX, Jamie Ferranti of Destin, FL; daughter, Dominique Nikol Ferranti and Matt Wilburn of Seattle, WA; grandchildren, Tara and Tom Powers (Logan) of Austin, Texas, Tyler and Chloe Ferranti (Ryder and Colton) and Jayden Watters; siblings, Bill and Margaret Ferranti of Datil, NM, Elizabeth Metzger of
Albuquerque, NM, and Kathy Davis of
Lubbock, TX; brother-in-law, Lee and Michelle Troupe of San Diego, CA; multiple nieces and nephews, cousins and aunts.
He was welcomed into heaven by his parents, Betty and Jay Ferranti, in-laws, Herb and Barbara Troupe, as well as by all his beloved pets!
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at 2:00 pm at Angel Fire State Veterans Cemetery-
