Obituary published on Legacy.com by Palmer Bush & Jensen Family Funeral Homes - Lansing Chapel on Feb. 2, 2026.
Gary died on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at the age of 78. Gary was born on January 15, 1948, to Neil and Geraldine (Evans) Rittenburg. He was a graduate of Monsignor John Gabriel's High School, Lansing Community College and Michigan State University. He was a US Army Veteran (1966-1969) and of the Vietnam War. He worked as a dept. head at L&L & Shoprite Grocery Stores for many years. His studies allowed him to re-career as an IT analyst for the State of Michigan (MDOT) retiring in 2013.

He enjoyed studying history, working with computer technology, traveling yearly to northern Michigan, especially the Frankfort area and to Gulf Shores, AL after retirement. He also enjoyed many long friendships, working on his lawn, and loved his dogs through the years, Thor, Jack, Dolly and Cody.

Most of all, he loved and adored his wife, Judy who predeceased him.

Gary was preceded in death by love of his life, wife, Judy M Rittenburg (2018), parents and in-laws, Fred and Joann Moore.

He is survived by daughter, Kristen Houston (Jeff Vanderschaaf); son, Chad Mosier (Mary); grandchildren, Alex and Jacob (Louise Thurkle) Houston, Elena and Aiden Mosier; sisters-in-law, Marye Cunningham (Tom) and Janette Moore; brother, Ronald Rittenburg (Kathy); nephew, Scott Rittenburg; great nephew, Alex Rittenburg, all of California
