Kevin Lyle Rittenburg

Kevin Lyle Rittenburg was born in1959, to Janet (Mobley) Oberg and Jerry Rittenburg. Kevin attended Ceresco Elementary and Raymond Central High School, where he graduated in 1977. Kevin enlisted in the United States Marine Corp in 1977 and proudly served his country in communications. He was very proud of his service to his America.

In April of1989, Kevin met his bride, Mary (Wissink), on a blind date set up by students she was teaching at Raymond Central. It was truly love at first sight and they were married in July of 1990. Although the early years brought their struggles, Kevin and Mary remained happily married for 34 years and have 3 amazing children: Malachi Rittenburg, Valparaiso; Isaiah Rittenburg, Lincoln; and Grace Rittenburg, Lincoln.

Kevin was very involved with his children and their activities. He was a Scout leader for many years and a baseball coach; he played Barbie dress up, helped sell and deliver Boy Scout popcorn and Girl Scout cookies by the hundreds, and often wore makeup and fingernail polish that Grace put on him while he slept. He often impressed his co-workers with his makeovers. Kevin and Mary loved to go camping and spend time outdoors. They took many motorcycle trips across Nebraska and into neighboring states. Kevin enjoyed his motorcycle and bought one for Mary so they could take those trips. Kevin loved watching sports of any type, but football was always his favorite.

Kevin spent most of his working life at Nebraska Boiler/Cleaver Brooks in Lincoln. He started on the tube crew, was a welder, and finished his career retiring in March 2024, as a CNC Drill Programmer and Operator, when he was diagnosed with liver cancer.

In January 2025, Kevin would have celebrated 41 years clean and sober. This was something he was also very proud of.

Kevin loved history, the Marines, Right to Life, sports, his family, and the Lord. Kevin was not afraid to share the love of Jesus with those who would listen (and sometimes those who wouldn't). He read his Bible and devotions daily and was a member of Capitol City Christian Church.

Kevin is survived by his wife, Mary; his children, Malachi, Isaiah (Amber), and Grace (Fiancée Bailey Zeck); his grandson Elliott, his soon-to-be granddaughter (both to Isaiah and Amber); his mother, Janet Oberg; his sisters Terri Rittenburg, Janell Cain (Ken); Lora Pierson (Kenny), his brother Dean Oberg (Cheryl); many in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. He is preceded in death by his stepfather, Virgil Oberg; his sister, Karin Rittenburg-Riggins; his father, Jerry Rittenburg and his wife, Mary Alice Rittenburg.

Services held Thursday, January 2, 2025.
