Gary "Red" Roberts, age 74, of Independence, Kentucky passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. A master carpenter by trade, Red dedicated his life to building and creating. He specialized in home remodels and was known for his skill as a finish carpenter-there was little he could not build or repair. Beyond his craft, Red shared his knowledge with others, spending over a decade teaching trade vocations to special needs adults at Northern Kentucky University, a role he found deeply fulfilling. Red was a proud and longtime member of the Covington Moose Lodge Local #1469, where he formed many lasting friendships. Red was also the proud owner and operator for over 41 years of Wee Bee Tots child care and was involved in fostering children. Known for his quick wit, hilarious voice impersonations, and spectacular singing voice, he brought laughter and joy wherever he went. More than anything, Red cherished his family. He was a fantastic storyteller who never met a stranger and had insights that could last forever. Red's greatest joy was the time he spent with them, creating memories that will be treasured for generations. He was extremely proud of his family and all their accomplishments. A day did not go by that he was not always praising them, even for the most miniscule of tasks. His family was and always will be his world. Gary's legacy of craftsmanship, humor, music, and love for family will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Preceding Gary in death were his parents, Morris and Mary Joy Roberts; in-laws, Buster and Helen Taylor; and three of his brothers, Ronnie, Davey and Darryl. Those left surviving to carry on Gary's legacy include his faithful and loving wife whom he married on June 26, 1971, Caryl Roberts (nee Taylor); daughters, Amber (Tim Tomlinson) Line and Mandi (Brian) Huff; loving papaw to four grandchildren, Coleman Huff, Riley Huff, Conner Line and Presley Huff; siblings, Debbie, Peggy, Kelly, Danny, Billy, Jerry and Kevin; as well as multiple nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. A visitation celebrating Gary's life will be held from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM on Thursday, August 28, 2025 at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, 11 East Southern Avenue, Latonia, Kentucky 41015. A funeral service will immediately follow at 12:00 PM at the funeral home. Gary will then be laid to rest at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 5336 Old Taylor Mill Road, Covington, Kentucky 41015. Expressions of sympathy may be made in Gary's name to the St. Elizabeth Healthcare Oncology Center, 1 Medical Village Drive, Edgewood, Kentucky 41017. Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia, Kentucky 41015 is serving the family. Online condolences may be expressed on Facebook or at www.connleybrothersfuneralhome.com.
