Gary Roger Ruengert

Gary Roger Ruengert was born on July 2, 1947, and went to be with the Lord on November 20, 2025. He led a good and fulfilling life. He was born in St. Louis City to Margaret L. Slusser, age 27, and Charles J. Ruengert, age 25. Gary grew up and later joined the United States Marines, proudly serving four years on the front lines in Vietnam. After returning home, he worked in security while raising his son, David Ruengert, and supporting and caring for his first wife, Doe Ruengert.
On August 28, 1990, Gary entered a contest to win the hand of Julie Blomberg-Schroeder in marriage. He was competing against five other men. The contest included dinner dates, dancing, and vacation. Gary won by a landslide.
On August 28, 1991, Gary married Julie Ann Schroeder-Blomberg in an exotic wedding in Las Vegas, Nevada, at the 'We've Only Just Begun' chapel. Gary whisked Julie away on many vacations together. Gary worked as a security guard in Level 5 at the prison, with some of the most dangerous inmates while Julie worked as a nurse. Gary was a great man who served well in the military and enjoyed 35 years of marriage with Julie.
Gary was a member of Solid Rock Family Church and led Celebrate Recovery classes.
He is survived by his loving wife, Julie Ruengert; son, David Ruengert; grandson, Levi Ruengert; sister, Linda Bridges; in-laws, Norman and Catherine Schroeder; first wife, Doe Ruengert; along with several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 17.
Friends and family will be received from 11:00a.m. to 1:00p.m. on Monday, December 1, 2025 at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors with a Celebration of Life to follow. Burial will be held on a later date.
