Barbara J. Schwartz

Barbara Joan Schwartz, 84, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 20, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was born April 10, 1941, in Jefferson City to the late Armine F. and Josephine L. (Walker) Schieder.
Barbara married Gerald J. "Pete" Schwartz on April 29, 1961, in Chamois, Missouri. He preceded her in death on July 12, 1999. She attended Chamois High School and worked as a secretary for the Missouri National Guard Adjutant General's Office for 27 years, retiring in 2000.
She enjoyed scrapbooking, embroidering, crocheting, shopping, and playing her favorite game BINGO. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and her fur baby Lizzie.
Barbara is survived by her daughters: Denise Massman (Rob), Diane Prenger, Kelly Schwartz, Shelly Schwartz, and Holly Rackers (Curt); her brother, Jerome Schieder (Marilyn); her sisters, Nancy Garrison and Angie Williams; nine grandchildren; Andrea Dennis (Scott), Shelby Gill (Jon), Cameron Massman (Abby), Erin Duren (Jeremy), Emily Lambert (Eric), Tyler Holtmeyer (Megan), Derek Holtmeyer (Kaitlyn), Piper Vertiz (Pablo), and Pierce Rackers,18 great-grandchildren, with one more expected in the spring; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, in-laws, and her son-in-law, Roy Prenger.

Friends will be received from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors in Jefferson City, Missouri with a prayer service at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Msgr. Robert A. Kurwicki, VG as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
