Gary Lin Salyer, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and proud U.S. Army veteran, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2025, in Northglenn, Colorado, just five days before his 77th birthday. Born on November 19, 1948, in Merced, California, Gary lived a life marked by strength, generosity, and a deep, steady love for his family. Gary is survived by his wife, Michele; his sons, Michael and Joshua; and his grandchildren, Savannah, Em, Thomas, Jakob, Hope, and Derek, who were each a source of joy and pride in his life. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Sara, and a wide circle of extended family and friends who loved him dearly. A "man's man" in every sense, Gary lived with quiet grit, loyalty, and a big heart. He never met a stranger and had a rare gift for making anyone feel welcome and understood. Many will remember him behind the smoker or the grill, cooking for the people he cared about, with good music playing and laughter filling the room. Fishing was his greatest passion, and being near the water brought him a calm and peace that reflected the way he lived his life. Gary honorably served in the United States Army as a Specialist 4 (Promotable), spending part of his service in Vietnam with U.S. Army Pacific. He earned multiple commendations, including the Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and Expert (Rifle – M14). Though he did not speak often of his service, the courage, discipline, and steady resolve he carried throughout his life were shaped by those years. To those who knew him, Gary was strength, humor, guidance, and comfort. His presence filled a room without effort, and his absence leaves a space that cannot be replaced. His legacy lives on in the stories told, the lessons passed down, the meals shared, and the love he poured into the people he leaves behind. A military burial with honors will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery on November 25th at 10:45 AM.
