Gary Lee Schout, age 67, passed away at home on Thursday, June 12, 2025. He was born on January 11, 1958, to Preston and Helen (Schippers) Schout in Allendale, MI. Gary was a member of Fellowship Church. He spent 30 years as a self-employed Little Debbie distributor in the Holland, MI area. Gary enjoyed spending time with family, camping, fishing, and supporting Michigan football, the Detroit Tigers, and the Detroit Lions. He was known for his kindness and gentleness, always willing to lend a helping hand to family and friends. His strong faith in Christ inspired him to pray with others.
On August 19, 1977, he married Dawn L. Mulder, who survives him. He is also survived by his three children: Daniel Schout, Nate (Becky) Schout, and Jill Quick, as well as his former daughter-in-law, Kristin Schumacher. Gary cherished his six grandchildren: Noah, Natalie, Lillea, Jude, Simon, and Nora. He is survived by his brother, Larry Schout, and sisters, Kay Schout and Darlene (Ed) Diemer, along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister-in-law, Karen Schout.
A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at Fellowship Church (4200 Apple Ave., Muskegon, MI) with Pastor Mike VanKampen officiating. VISITATION with the family will take place from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 737 Apple Avenue, Muskegon, MI 49442. Memorial contributions can be directed to Muskegon Christian School or the Harbor Hospice Foundation. Share memories with the family at https://www.sytsemafh.com.
