Gary Seegmiller Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Serenity Funeral Home of Bluffdale on Jul. 25, 2024.
Gary Dorel Seegmiller was 66 years old when he passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on July 18, 2024, in Murray, Utah. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on March 13, 1958, to Dorel G. and Beverly Elvina Seegmiller. In 1977 he met the love of his life, Renee Crockett, and they were
later married in the Salt Lake Temple on July 14, 1978.
Gary grew up in Salt Lake City and graduated from South High School. He liked to say that the
students there were so smart they had to turn it into a college. Gary started his career in retail
with his brother in the summers, spent some time at a Technical School, worked as a salesman for
most of his life, but also spent many years doing lighting audits for Rocky Mountain Power.
Music was one of Gary's greatest passions. He had a talent for playing the drums and always said
that the ability to do so was as easy for him as breathing. Gary played in several bands that
performed throughout Utah and surrounding states. During these times, he was able to open for Wade Hayes, Bob Crosby, The Bellamy Brothers, and Chely Wright. He loved to teach himself and others how to play the drum parts of new songs. Art was another passion of Gary's. He loved to paint, draw, and build many things. Many of his family members have some of his masterpieces hanging in their houses. He spent many hours sharing and passing on this passion to his kids and grandkids.
Many memories were made at the family property in the Uintah's. He started going there with his
parents, where they would camp out on the property that they purchased. After his father passed
away, Gary, his brothers and brothers-in-law built a cabin up on the property. He loved spending
time up there making memories, shing, and exploring the National Forest Land in that area. Gary
always kept treats and candy for the grandkids whenever they would come over. They knew they could always nd grandpa and ask to have a sucker or hard candy. Movies were a big part of Gary's life as well. He had a collection of movies that allowed his family to share in this love. He made sure to have all his favorites which included all the John Wayne, Jesse Stone, and Indiana Jones movies. Gary came from a family of pranksters and carried on that tradition proudly. He never missed an
opportunity to prank someone, scare someone, or share a dad joke. Memories were very important to Gary, and he made sure to always have his camera out to capture special moments and preserve them for those to come. Gary's greatest accomplishment was his family. He loved to spend time with his kids, grandkids, and siblings. There was never a time that he was not there to show his love and
support for all his children and grandchildren.
Gary is survived by his wife, Renee; his children, Shaylee; Kira (Daniel); Kendall (Ashlee); Kyle (Lyndi); Kelsey (Andrew); his grandchildren, Taryn; Sydney; Paydon; Brinley;
Aria; Quinntin; Piper; Makenlee; Nora; and Gentry; his siblings, Sharon; Stephen (Jane); Verlene;
and Jerry (Jane). He is preceded in death by his parents, Dorel and Beverly, and his
brothers-in-law Keith and Alan.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday July 30th at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
